Century Farm Wood-Works
1.
- Darren Casto
- University of Southern Florida
- Majored in Biology
- Currently, he runs a company called Century Farm Wood-Works, designing and building custom furniture.
- I chose to interview Mr. Casto because I was interested in learning more about his business. Carpentry is a topic that I have lots of interest in. He is also the father of my best friend, so being that I see him very often, he was a great candidate to be interviewed.
- One of the major problems Mr. Casto faces is wood warping. Often times, due to the moisture in the air, the wood gets warped. When the wood gets warped, it's very difficult to make straight and level furniture. Also, warped wood is not very appealing to the eye. It makes the furniture look poorly built and unstable creating the possibility of a bad reputation for Mr. Casto.
ZST Rentals
1.
- Zohaib (No last name)
- University of Maryland Eastern shore
- Majored in Electrical Engineering
- Mastered In Cyber Security
- Currently he runs a home rental company called ZST Rentals.
- I chose to interview Mr. Zohaib because his business has a major impact on our community. With his rental homes, people across our town are able to live comfortably. From what I have heard, he is a very hardworking individual, so I wanted to talk to the legend personally.
- One of the major problems Mr. Zohaib faces is window installation. When installing windows, he has to use a straight level that tells you if one side of an object is level. So he has to hold the level on the window horizontally to get that side level and then has to hold the level vertically to get it level vertically. Often, when he gets one side level, the other side will mess up without him knowing until he puts the level on that side again. This causes lots of frustration and makes him lose much precious time.
Castle Farm
1.
- Catherine Casto
- Duke University
- Majored in Cell and Molecular Biology
- Currently works as an OBGYN and runs a horse farm
- Mrs. Casto, wife of Mr. Casto, has a beautiful farm with beautiful horses. They also host weddings on the farm. I decided to interview her because I want to be able to help them solve a major problem on their farm.
- For the weddings, Mrs. Casto has a huge tent set up. This tent is, as you can assume from the name, not a permanent structure. It is held up by metal poles and fastened down by ratchet straps. One of the major issues Mrs. Casto faces is wind damage. Anytime there is a lot of wind, the walls of the tent have to be taken down. If they aren't, the tent will be damaged and possibly blown away. Taking down the walls of the tent is a very difficult and lengthy process. Altogether, it's very inconvenient and causes lots of valuable time to be wasted.
